In October 1999 I wrote the script for the musical "Keep on Coding". Of the 14 songs in it, I wrote the music for six of them, for five of them I used popular songs by other people and for the other three, I didn't write any music because by that stage it had become clear that there wouldn't be a production at the end of the 1999 university year. In the years afterward I filled in the gaps, and it wasn't until Dec 07 that I put the whole package together.
In July 2001 I began writing the musical "User-Friendly", but it the idea got too big and all I ended up writing was what would have been the opening number. It has a PowerPoint show which goes along with the song. In Feb 03 I wrote No.2, and I may yet make it into a whole show. These two songs are probably my best.
At MADD Camp in July 2003 we wrote and performed a musical of the story of David & Goliath. I wrote most of the words but only the music for No.1. In June 2004 I wrote two numbers of Pitch Drop, a short musical about Australia's longest running scientific experiment. All it needs is a finale. At MADD camp in 2005, we made a play of the Three Little Pigs, and my contribution was writing the bulk of the dialogue in Seussian verse.
I have also written an article for Pixelate magazine on manipulating MIDI music in a C program.
A great deal of what I have written has never been performed. Cheers go to anyone who has at any stage brought one of my creations to life! These include my friends who bravely joined me in quartets in lectures, Kate & her friends in Melbourne who sang a bit of KoC in chem class and MADD campers in 03 & 05 who performed on a Friday night a play which didn't exist on the previous Monday.
