The monthly issues of Keros periodicals have now reached Issue Number 113 (August 2007), number 001 having started in April 1988. Issue No. 113 is a special issue, as it addresses the problem of making family history archival material available to researchers in the future. It enlists the aid of the public library at Kapunda in South Australia as the venue for a CD containing Keros issues, and explains how a copy of the No. 113 issue may be held with archival material, so that associated family history information may be made available to future researchers. The file is in .pdf format, requiring an Adobe Acrobat reader. A major advantage of this format is the ease with which key words or phrases can be found in a search of a large number of .pdf files. If you use Windows Internet Explorer you can download a copy of this file by right-clicking the link at the end of this paragraph, and selecting "Save Target As..." to choose a folder. The link is 113_Aug07.pdf. As it is impracticable to include all Keros issues individually and directly on this site, I have decided to make them all available to interested family members either by downloading a zipped file or by posting a CD to your address. Each issue is identified by the issue number and the Month and Year of issue. Thus the first issue has the file name "001_Apr88.pdf". The download option involves a very large zipped file, over 25MB in size. Depending on the Internet connection speed, a file of this size can take considerable time to download. Approximate times for various connections are: 3 hrs for a 28K modem, 1 1/2 hrs for a 56K modem, 20 mins for 256K broadband adsl, 10 mins for 512K adsl and 3 1/2 mins for 1500K adsl. But bear in mind that these times for various reasons may be quite different. The CD will include all issues of the periodical to date in .pdf format. If you choose the download option, the procedure depends on the operating system of your computer. If you use Windows Internet Explorer you can download the copy by right-clicking on the link at the end of this paragraph and choosing a folder for the file by selecting "Save Target As..." and following instructions. Right-click on KerosPeriodicals.zip. If you choose the CD option, please Email me at ramacs@chariot.net.au with your name and postal address. For future issues of Keros, a copy will be sent as an attachment to Email on request.
