Founded in 1967 in the UK by the Ven. Maha Sthavira Sangharakshita (Dennis Lingwood), the FWBO now has a presence in many countries. When I was in London, I became involved with the FWBO for a six-year period (1978-84). While I initially gained a great deal from this involvement in many respects, I eventually left after I found that I had long passed the "point of diminishing returns". Even after over twenty years, I still find that I have mixed feelings about the experience; and I am not surprised that some other ex-members have gone public about their own experiences with this sometimes controversial movement. However, even though the grievances of these ex-members may have been valid, their response seems, to me, to verge on the obsessional and vindictive. My name is Andrew Konrad Winkler, and I live in Adelaide, South Australia. A Google search will reveal that there are any number of people around the world, and even in Australia, who happen to share the name "Andrew Winkler". There is one in particular who I would like to publicly disassociate myself from, since I most definitely do not share his Holocaust revisionist views, or have any other connection to him. He is the obsessive blogger and self-styled editor/publisher of TheRebel.org from Sydney. | |
