SA Water
Water is a precious
resource. In South Australia - the driest State, in the
driest inhabited continent on the planet - we can’t
afford to take water for granted.
Recognising this, the State Government has introduced
Permanent Water Conservation Measures. These are
sensible, responsible and simple measures to ensure we
all play a role in saving our water resources now and in
the future. Various information sheets are provided. |
|
The Study of Water
Oceans, rivers, lakes and wetlands are an indispensable
part of Canada's livelihood and hence are the focus of
much attention. The scientific study of the oceans is
called oceanology (or oceanography). |
|
Aquatic Ecosystems
In nature nothing exists alone. Living things relate to
each other as well as to their non-living, but
supporting, environments. These complex relationships
are called ecosystems. Each body of water is a
delicately balanced ecosystem in continuous interaction
with the surrounding air and land. |
|
The Water Cycle
The hydrological cycle provides a model for
understanding the global plumbing system. Water spends
time in the ocean, in the air, on the surface, and under
the surface as groundwater. The hydrological cycle is a
closed system because water is neither created nor
destroyed on a large scale. |
|
Water pollution
This information from the Keep South Australia Beautiful
organisation has information for students about how to
monitor water quality and take action to protect water
environments such as rivers, wetlands and coasts. |
