Late again!
Aunt Lena used to tell a story of a Methodist minister who used to take services at the Currency Creek Church. He would arrive about 10:55, get off his horse and invariably say, “Late again!” He had ridden from Middleton to the Shipway property (8 miles from Goolwa and 4 from C.Ck. store! About 11 miles the back way!) Thank goodness for motor cars! Chelsea, Uncle “Adey” (Andy) and I have just come back from a shopping spree and putting flowers in the church. Chelsea has decided that maybe she should go and see if the household is OK (but she left her car seat, ensuring that she may return later). She often keeps me company. Several times, when I’ve had her in the car she’s said, “Auntie Dora, why are you driving so slow?” I speed up to 80 and ask is that fast enough and get told, “Mummy and Daddy can go faster!” |

Last July a group of us went up to Wentworth for the Steam Festival.
It was a sight to behold... the paddle boats all moored at the Wentworth
wharf. Boats can only tie up there for about 2 hours. (Unfortunately
at the Goolwa wharf, one family seem to have unlimited access.)
While at Wentworth we ate at the Club of course to rip money off patrons by pokies. I didn’t feel a bit guilty having eaten well at the Club at no cost, because I didn’t play the pokies. Many families suffer because of the pokies. I would rather give to those who have suffered because of the introduction of pokies in SA . |

| Auntie Ces’ 70th birthday is on Dec. 4th. Her cousin Doreen is
coming over from Sydney for the occasion. The family is well.
Uncle Frank is always snowed under with work, but seems reasonably well.
Auntie Pat has not been too well. She had a scare one night with
a heart turn. She
has always had blood pressure problems, but seems to have overcome it with rigid control. Uncle Andy is OK, but summer always brings on problems with a work related condition from years ago. He gets a very nasty rash and asthma as a result. Mark is full-time in Adelaide and can only get home Friday nights about 8-9 PM, and is gone again 7:30 Sat morning to drive to Cadell. Andrea is home again and living in Goolwa working for a horse stud on Hindmarsh Island. |
