The health of the microflora of the Gastro Intestinal [GI] tract, begins with oral hygiene of your teeth, gums and overall mouth. A healthy oral microflora influences the health of the GI tract, which effects the body as a whole.
The amazing Dom's ToothSaving Paste was borne through the efforts of observing methods and ingredients used by different ancient human cultures of the past and present. With the power invested in me, I married these long standing traditions into the one product, and Dom's ToothSaving Paste was born.
Neem oil, an ingredient of Dom's ToothSaving Paste has been in use for the hygiene and condition of the gums by the folks of India for thousands of years. In India, all parts of the Need tree has wide use, either practically or ceremonially and is seen as a sacred tree by the folks of India. Sea salt is probably the first ever natural occurring compound used for cleaning teeth. Ash is the other natural compound and charcoal, a component of ash, has been used to clean teeth by many ancient cultures including the Australian Aborigines. Australian Aborigines are said to be the oldest known natives of the world. They date back to at least 60,000 years that we can estimate by fossils in fact. Indigenous Aboriginees have used charcoal to keep teeth clean probably for longer than any known human culture. It is believed that the first ever interest in chemistry, which was quite likely by shear accident, was the use of ash. It is said to be the first ever natural compound in the human endeavour in to chemistry. The evolution of chemistry probably has its origin to the use of wood ash as a natural cleaning agent.
Here, you'll find a recipe for the natural and most effective toothpaste, Dom's ToothSaving Paste. The 100% natural toothpaste eliminates tooth sensitivity due to poor condition of tooth enamel. It is an effective preventative of tooth sensitivity, tooth enamel erosion and tooth decay. This toothpaste will eliminate gum bleeding if used on a regular basis. The toothpaste can remove most tooth stains, such as those caused by smoking cigarettes. It strengthens tooth enamel and hardens gums, and may heal, yes heal existing tooth decay [such as the case was with me]. Dom's ToothSaving Paste should leave a fine undetectable protective film on the surface of teeth. This acts both as a protective barrier AND continually re-mineralise tooth enamel for some hours after brushing and flossing the teeth.
Dom's ToothSaving Paste is a must-have and a must-use, especially for folks who enjoy culture food-products such as kefir, yogurt, buttermilk, kefirkraut, sauerkraut, kombucha, vinegar, kim-chi, pickles and most other culture-vegetables. This includes beer, wine, apple cider, carbonated beverages such as cola. Acidic foods such as most raw fruits, including lemon, grapefruit, strawberry, berries, orange, pineapple, grape, apple, and the list goes on.
Long term ingestion of culture food-products including a raw food diet, erodes tooth enamel. These foods contain high amounts of organic acids which soften and erode tooth enamel as soon and the acid comes in contact with the teeth. This then incurs tooth sensitivity, and a high probability of tooth decay.
Dom's' ToothSaving Paste plays an important preventative or corrective role in a diet consisting of culture food-products or a raw food diet.
There are suggestions that are against toothpastes that leave a protective film over the teeth. Such statements suggest that the film will prevent re-mineralisation of tooth enamel by the action of calcium found in saliva. Although this is most likely true for some toothpaste products on the market that contain glycerin. On the other hand, this is not the case with Dom's ToothSaving Paste. The reason being that my ToothSaving Paste consists of good, natural occurring minerals in a well balanced ratio. These very minerals are formulated in a similar method implemented in the preparation of Homeopathic medication. My method of a rendition of the basic principle of Homeopathy renders the product to work on the physical plane. On brushing the teeth, those minerals on contact on tooth enamel, immediately mineralise the enamel, as apposed to the action of organic acids, which soften tooth enamel.
So the action of Dom's ToothSaving Paste is to mineralise and provide a protective film on the teeth in one action, and re-mineralising continues as the very fine film consists of minerals and neem oil as an amalgamation of the two. How one can tell if this is true, is by simply observing how Dom's ToothSaving Paste eliminates tooth sensitivity, and in many cases with first use. It does not do this by masking pain, it simply does it by the shear action of continual re-mineralising tooth enamel over a period after brushing the teeth.
In 1996, a study found that women who gave birth before the 37th week gestation tended to have advanced periodontal disease. The same was true of women who had babies weighing less than 2.5 kilograms (about 5.5 pounds). Women with severe periodontal disease were found to have seven times the risk of giving birth prematurely, or having a baby with a low birth weight, compared to women who had healthy teeth and gums.
This research calculated that advanced periodontal disease could be linked to about 18% of premature births in the United States alone. Other research has found a direct link with tooth plague and the condition of arteries. Individuals with tooth plaque also were found to have plaque on the arterial walls.
After not visiting a dentist for some 4 years, on a recent visit to a Dental Hygienist, as she was working away at removing deeply seated calculi at the base of my teeth, she was quite surprised to see no visible sign of calculi buildup in between the teeth, and on the surface of the exposed teeth. She also said, Dom, I can't get your gums to bleed! This was through the trauma inflicted on my gums with the cleaning apparatus she was using. In fact, I recall her being quite impressed to find that my gums would not bleed. I asked, Why, Doc?.. do you want my gums to bleed? She replied, No!... it's been some time since I've come across a patient with gums that don't bleed during this treatment, and it's a good thing to see. You must be taking good care of your teeth. I told her about my tooth paste that I prepare and use. She was quite impressed to learn about my tooth paste, to the point that she actually asked for a sample to check out.
The recipe for the tooth paste is quite simple to follow. So let's get our teeth into it!?... shall we?....
NOTE if you would like to procure the ready-made product, which includes extra [secret] ingredients, please email me for cost-to-supply details with your country location at dna @ chariot . net . au [Remove the empty spaces]. I prepare the ToothSaving Paste fresh, and with highest quality ingredients, all Bio-dynamic or Organically produced. The recipe explained here is in fact the prototype of my current recipe. I use a rendition of homeopathy for the formulation of the ToothSaving Paste that I make available for sale.
The essential components for the ToothSaving Paste are, SPENT Wood-Ash, Neem seed oil, Kefir, unrefined sea salt and essential oils. The wood ash is collected from burning dry wood, burnt in a clean fireplace, until a fluffy gray ash is left as a residue after burning. The freshly collected ash MUST FIRST BE RENDERED SPENT before it can be used in the recipe explained below. This is of the UTMOST IMPORTANCE. because fresh wood ash is caustic, especially to delicate mucus membrane and gums. This is achieved by leaching out the alkali found in wood ash [potash], using hot water to dissolve and remove the alkali. Before we move on though, important facts must be stipulated as points of precaution. Please read the following section carefully.
Firstly, any wood used for burning for the preparation of ash, MUST be collected from ORGANICALLY GROWN TREES or OTHER VEGETATIVE MATTER. And that any fresh or dried wood MUST NOT BE TREATED with ANY CHEMICALS WHATSOEVER. This includes that the original tree which the wood is collected from, must not be painted with any paint, or treated for white ants, or sprayed with any form of pesticide or herbicide. Any wood used for burning, must not contain any foreign matter such as soil, metal staples or nails etc. or plastics, or paraffin waxes and the like. The wood must be CLEAN, VIRGIN WOOD. The cured dry wood must be burnt in a suitable CLEAN FIREPLACE, until fluffy gray ash is left behind, with only a minimal amount of charcoal as possible left with the ash [well burnt], after burning. The cold ash is collected and stored in a sealed container, kept dry as possible until ready for use for following the recipe for Dom's ToothSaving Paste explained below.
Wood obtained from most tree varieties [placing conditions explained above in mind] can be used to burn for its ash content. I mostly collect non-native tree branches from trees such as pine, olive and fruit trees, gathered in small quantities from any particular area and from random spots. Native animals and insects often use fallen branches as their home, so for that reason I avoid native tree branches that have fallen to the ground. The environment that I collect my wood is a good distance from a city or township [very clean wood grown in a non polluted area]. The non-native trees grow among native bush land on an extensive property that a good friend owns. Where possible, I may use cuttings taken from pruning our organically grown fruit trees, including grape vine cuttings, to prepare the wood-ash.
WOOD ASH IS CAUSTIC in its native state. WET OR MOISTENED ASH CAN BURN THE SKIN. IT IS ESPECIALLY CAUSTIC TO DELICATE MEMBRANES OF THE MOUTH; INNER CHEEK, and UPPER PALETT AREA, TONGUE and GUMS INCLUSIVE. Any ash MUST FIRST BE WASHED MANY TIMES OVER WITH HOT WATER, in order to remove the natural occurring alkali of wood ash [Potash]. It is this ALKALINE component which renders wood ash caustic, and it is the process of washing ash with water many times over, which renders ash as, SPENT ASH and safe to use in my recipe.
With the above precautions in mind, it is important to wear protective hand-gear, such as surgical gloves when handling wood ash, in case of a reaction due to sensitive skin. Getting dry or wet wood ash on the hands or other exposed skin areas can cause dermatitis for individuals with sensitive skin. Any small cuts or abrasions will be worsened if the area is exposed to wood ash or strong alkali solution prepared with wood ash. So please, handle wood ash or the first washings-liquid with respect and with due care!
1 pair of rubber or silicone [surgical] hand gloves.
Mortar and Pestle.
1 tall 10 to12-cup cylindrical container [glass or stainless steel. Avoid plastic containers].
2-cup glass jar with a non metallic lid [to store the ToothSaving Paste].
Hot water as needed.
2-cups fluffy gray wood ash [first read all precautions above].
3 Tbs unrefined natural sea salt.
1 Tbs cold pressed neem seed oil.
1 tsp spearmint or peppermint essential oil, or 1/2 tsp clove oil.
1/2 cup kefir.
SPENDING the ASH
Before we commence, please be sure to ware protective hand gear, so doctors, please put on your surgical gloves.
- Sift the wood ash with a sieve to remove most of the charcoal as possible. Any small pieces of charcoal left with the ash after sifting is acceptable.
- Place the collected sifted wood ash in a tall cylindrical container.
- Add about 8 cups of boiling hot water to the ash.
3a] To separate unwanted elements from the ash such as sand, stir the contents well and then quickly pour off as much ash and water as possible into a separate container. But do not tip the container over fully, for you want to leave a small amount of sediment at the bottom of the first container. This sediment contains sand and other unwanted heavier elements. Now discard the sediment, wash the container and pour back the ash and water mixture back into the working container. This step can be repeated one more time by adding cold water to the ash to ensure no sand and grit remains in the ash. These elements will be abrasive and they scratch and wear away tooth enamel when the toothpaste is ready for use. After this, omit this step in the repeating process.
- Stir the contents well for 1 minute and let stand for 15 minutes so that the ash can settle at the bottom of the container.
- Slowly pour off as much clear ash lye water as possible so that only wet ash is left at the bottom of the container, with a smallest amount of water left with the ash sediment as possible.
Repeat from step 3, doing so 12 times all up. Remember to omit step 3a.
What we should be left with is a gray muddy slurry. This is your SPENT WOOD ASH. Now, lets' move on to the next step, shall we?!....
This is the easy part. After the 12th washing above, we are left with a sediment of spent ash at the bottom of the container. Pour the ash slurry in a piece of pre-moistened clean white cloth sitting in a colander or sieve. Let as much water drain from the wet ash as possible over 1 hour. Keep the cake of spent ash aside.
In a mortar, mix kefir with unrefined sea salt and grind with a pestle for about 2 minutes to dissolve the sea salt. Pour the mixture in a separate bowl. Add neem seed oil and spent ash paste in the mortar and grind with a pestle for a least 10 minutes. You must grind the ash as fine as possible, so that no large particles remain, but a slurry of very fine particle size. Add the salted kefir to the slurry with the essential oil and then grind for another 5 minutes. Pour the toothpaste in a clean glass jar and seal the jar airtight.
That's it, Dom's ToothSaving Paste is made and ready to use.
Storing Dom's ToothSaving Paste in a clean glass jar sealed airtight with a lid prevents the paste from drying out. Mix the paste with a spoon before each use, to remix any water back that may separate during storage. Leaving the tooth paste sit in the sealed jar for about 2 weeks thickens the paste a little, as it matures. This is due to a reaction between the oil and ash. Similar to soap making, it matures with age!
Simply dip the bristles of a pre-wetted tooth brush in the ToothSaving Paste, so that about 1/2 to 1 tsp of paste is put onto the brush. Or, remove about 1/2 tsp of ToothSaving Paste with a teaspoon and put that onto the bristles of a pre-wetted tooth brush. Now brush the teeth well. If you floss your teeth, which you should do, do not rinse your mouth with water directly after brushing... just floss the teeth with any remnants of tooth paste left around the teeth. This will help to better dislodge food particles and remove plague without an abrasive action with flossing, while neutralizing bad odour and acids left in between your teeth.
Leaving the ToothSaving Paste on the teeth while flossing, improves re-mineralising of tooth enamel due to leaving amounts of toothpaste on the teeth for a longer period.
Flossing between the teeth while amounts of ToothSaving Paste is left on the teeth, will ensure that the area between the teeth through flossing, will be better re-mineralised and then left with a very fine protective film of a neem oil amalgamation with wood ash. This continues to re-mineralise tooth enamel while protecting the teeth from damaging organic acids in a single action.
It is best to use the ToothSaving Paste first thing in the morning, before eating or drinking. You may also brush and floss the teeth last thing before retiring to bed. If you wisyh, you can use regular tooth paste in between during the day.
A small amount of ToothSaving Paste can be used to brush the tongue. This eliminates and prevents bad breath [Halitosis] by first neutralizing unwanted aromatic compounds and removing bad breath-causing organisms that line the tongue. I find that first brushing the tongue with a small amount of paste left on my teeth through brushing the teeth, followed by rinsing with fresh water, and then follow-up with scraping the tongue with a tongue scraper, then rinsing the mouth with warm water, is an effective tongue conditioner and a wonderful breath freshener.
By the way, this ToothSaving Paste is not for the week stomached, for it can be a little bitter. It may be too bitter for kids. In this case, you can make a mixture of a regular toothpaste that kids enjoy, mixed with an amount of ToothSaving Paste to mask the bitter flavour.
This is due to the bitter nature of neem seed oil. Neem seed oil could be substituted for a good vegetable or seed oil of choice in the recipe, to prepare a non-bitter version of the tooth paste. However, I must point out that although I can not guarantee the effectiveness of using alternative oils, such a tooth paste should still be rendered effective at the prevention of tooth decay and sensitive teeth and strengthen the gums.
My secret recipe masks the bitter element of neem seed oil quite effectively, without adulterating the product. In fact, the secret method enhances the effectiveness of the product. However, I am not willing to disclose all my secrets, for a self appointed leader has to keep ahead of the flock in the name of self preservation. I must also protect my efforts from being exploited completely by those whom have a tendency for making profit off of the efforts of free giving spirits. Be forewarned to whom this may concern, watch carefully how your life and outlook shall change for the worst if you decide to take on such as negative challenge. I feel I've done my bit here, and shall leave it here like so.
Folks who have obtained ready made Dom's ToothSaving Paste directly from me, all have reported how effective my ToothSaving Paste really is. Every claim mentioned here, have been enjoyed and realized by these folks thus far.
It's simply an amazing product, one that I wish every one can enjoy the experience of having good, strong, clean healthy teeth that remain clean, and non furry for a least 2 days after brushing.
Holy Halitosis, when one is able to tolerate brushing the tongue followed by scraping it without being overcome by nausea, then and ONLY THEN is one well equipped and ready enough to leave the Bat-cave; leaving halitosis well behind you!
The first 3 washings of alkali from the ash explained in, "METHOD FOR PREPARING THE ASH" above, is ash lye water. This alkali solution can be used as a natural liquid detergent. In fact, ash lye water is an effective natural liquid detergent. I suggest to keep the first 3 washings of ash lye water for the purpose of washing things such as, kitchen utensils, clothes, floors, windows including your motor vehicle for that matter.
Ash lye water should not be thrown directly onto roots of plants, for it can kill plants due to its caustic nature. Lye solution should be first neutralized before discarding onto any soil, or before added to a garden compost. This can be done by mixing an amount of vinegar, kefir or kefir-whey with the ash lye water solution. It does not take much acid solution such a vinegar or kefir to neutralize lye water. Be careful though, for when neutralizing ash lye with an acid such as vinegar or kefir, spontaneous reaction produces large amounts of carbon dioxide as foam. So, any container used to mix the ingredients must have the capacity to cater for the increase in volume, due to the carbon dioxide gas forming a volume of a formation of upward moving foam.
Do not fill any container with ash lye water mixed with an acid solution more that 1/2 full, otherwise the container may overflow creating a mess on the ground over the working area.
Do not perform the above in a sealed container, such as a sealed bottle, otherwise the container may explode. Do the mixing in a large bucket
Neem Seed Oil is available from Indian Stores sold as, Margosa Oil. There is also a company here in Australia Neem Australia that produce and sell Cold Pressed Neem Seed Oil.
