Hi and welcome to my website.
Well you all know that I'm Mildura born and a Victorian
at heart, although we have been in Marden SA for the last 39 years,
the Merbein influence is still strong in my heart. And I'm not committed
to following the 'Crows' or 'Port Adelaide' the one thing I do know is
that when Port Adelaide joined the AFL it gave crow supporters two teams
to barrack for, the Crows and who ever played against Port Adelaide. The
only footy side I followed in the VFL/AFL was "Fitzroy" and when they
were tossed out in 1996 that was the end for me. After all they were 'My
Team', after Bobby Martin and I heard the Grand Final Match of 1944 on
the 'radio' when Fitzroy beat Richmond, and we both said that's the team
for us. And the fact that they never played in a Grand Final again never
bothered me, MUCH! I still enjoy the game of cricket and the Adelaide
Cricket Ground is a great place to watch the game played at its highest
level. Now since 1992 I have been tracing my family tree due to the
influence of Raylee Schultz who told Pat that genealogy would be a great
therapy for me during my convalesce from heart surgery. The early days
in tracing my family tree and Pat's was rewarding indeed, Pat and I
travelled all over Victoria to find what we could re our ancestors
visiting small townships, the local cemeteries, the local historian
societies and enjoying the occasional find. It was Marilyn Gherashe of
Montreal, Canada, who informed both Desmond Jenkins and myself that we
were first cousins! I didn't know that dad (11th born) was one of 14
children and Desmond thought that his dad Norman (6th born) was the last
child of Henry John and Sarah Ann Jenkins.
Roma Jenkins & Dawn Chambers in New Zealand has been a
great help in my recording the ancestors of Robert Jenkins, father
of our Henry Cox Jenkins.
Genealogy is indeed a funny and rewarding game.
