The
Forge - some very, very interesting discussions on gaming theory
and game design, which proposes some very useful ideas. In case
you can't tell, we think this site is rather good
Roleplaying Tips -
excellent articles about GMing, which generally contain very practical
and easily applied tips, by Johnn Four. Mostly generic, but with
a slight Fantasy focus.
The
Burning Void - another site of tips and essays for GMs and players
by Heather Grove, mostly generic but with a White Wolf leaning.
More meta game discussion than immediately practical tips.
Black
Hat Matt's Essays and Writings on Roleplaying - contains a number
of essays on roleplaying, surprisingly enough. The one entitled
What
Makes a Beautiful Player should be compulsory reading.....
Critical Miss Gaming Society
- a humerous look at the hobby with some semi serious advice.
7th Sea - another favourite
game system of ours, devoted to swashbuckling and sorcery in a fantasy
17th century Europe. See also our 7th
Sea Links Page.
White Wolf Online - one
of our favourite roleplaying systems, devoted to horror themes (such
as Vampires)
Chaosium (Call of Cthulhu)
- ah Cthulhu - roleplaying game of Lovecraftian horror and source
of madness everywhere.
RPGnet
- a site for those interested in the process of writing roleplaying
games, with a range of forums, industry information, and a place
to put out open calls for play testers.
Pyramid
- from Steve Jackson Games, the online gaming magazine that is worth
every cent of the subscription cost, if only for Kenneth Hite and
Steve Marsh.
Roleplaying at Random
- bored with your usual roleplaying sites, go here and click the
button for random roleplaying fun
About
Roleplaying - About.com's roleplaying site
The
Adelaide University Roleplaying Club - just what it sounds like,
a uni club devoted to roleplaying, of which we both happen to be
members.
Plot
Structure - An article on using the traditional 3 Act Plot.
This works wonders with preparing for long-term campaigns.
What
Are RPG's? - a nice description of what roleplaying is by a
long term gamer, if you ever need to explain this to anyone
Quentriandal:
Realm of Dreaming - a forum RPG site currently seeking good
players, a kind of colaborative storytelling thing set in a Fantasy
world.
