About Us

OBJECTS:


The objects of The Fern Society shall be to bring together people interested in the cultivation and propagation of ferns. To collect, diffuse and distribute to members reliable information to enable the successful growing and exhibiting of these plants. To acquire the knowledge of habitats and the natural distribution of Australian ferns, with the aim of preservation.

Meetings

We meet on the fourth Friday of each month except December at the Adelaide High School Auditorium, West Terrace, cnr Hilton Road, Adelaide.
Due to high school needs, the Physics Lecture Room (100 metres to the left around the corner) may need to be used occasionally.


  • Fern sales begin at 7.20 pm monthly except November (Christmas dinner) and December


  • Often during the year there is a Trading Table, this starts at 7.20 pm


  • Before the meeting there are various raffles available.


  • Fern sales


  • Fern spore may be ordered.


  • The free to members library, books are available upon request to the Librarian.


  • Meetings start at 8.00 pm.


  • These can include a guest speaker or a fern workshop.
  • The Display Table of members ferns are for all to see. These are generally based on the nominated species of the night. They are discussed during the meeting with interesting and informative commentary.


  • A mid meeting break, with a complimentary tea, coffee and nibbles are available.



  • Other activities include, Bus trips, Garden Visits, Social Outings.


  • The Fern Society of South Australia Inc Newsletter, is issued ten times per year. They are normally dispatched one week prior to the meeting. The two months Newsletters that are not printed are November and December.




Visitors are more than welcome to the meetings where a Host or Hostess will meet you at the entrance and a member can stay with you to help understand our meetings
